the thesis is new puzzles in the study of nationalism. it will depart to two lectures: at the first time, will talk about new puzzles in the study of nationalism generally; at the second time will analyze the paradox of overseas: the strange politics of different chinese clan groups in thailand.
bio of speaker:
benedict anderson(1936- ),born in kunming yunnan province, then moved away from china with his family for china-japan war. he is one of the most important theorist on nationalism, a famous specialist of east-south asia study, chair professor of aaron l.binenjorb(emeritus)at institute of international studies of cornell university. main works: imagined communities: reflections on the origin and spread of nationalism, the spectre of comparisons, the spectre of comparisons: nationalism, southeast asia, and the world, java in a time of revolution, literature and politics in siam in the american era, language and power: exploring political cultures in indonesia, under three flags: anarchism and the anti-colonial imagination.
